RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 3 Webinar
Questions & Answers

By: Mike Stover, OpenText Product Manager

RightFax Partner of the Year - 5 Years in a Row

Q: I have 10.6 w/ SR 3.  Do I need to install FP1 or FP2 before I install FP3?
A: No, you do not need to install FP1 or FP2 before installing FP3.  FP3 will upgrade any version of 10.6. Need additional assistance? Call 952-224-3340 Ext. 1 to talk to a Fax Guy.

Q: With Fax Number Management – does this work with Integration Modules?
A: Fax Number Management doesn’t really interact with Integration Module.  Fax Number Management is about assigning fax numbers to your users.  If you are submitting faxes from the Integration Module and you have set up the dialing rule that Fax Number Management enables, Integration Module will follow those same dialing rules and those faxes can be routed to your local server and bypass telephony.

Q: How are strong passwords stored in RightFax and what encryption level are they?
A: We use a proprietary hash to encrypt the passwords in RightFax.

Q: Are there any plans to include WMI queries to monitor the services via third party applications?
A: There are no current plans to do this.  We have updated our alerting module to write out performance counters so those could be tracked and monitored by a 3rd party system.

Q: In service management for misconfigured service, does it list only the services you are licensed for?
A: We list every possible service regardless of license.  In our April 2017 release we will be improving misconfigured services view to give administrators the option to not display certain misconfigured services.

Q: We are currently using 10.5 version. When does it goes out of support?
A: RightFax 10.5 will not ever go out of support.  It will leave current maintenance and enter sustaining maintenance in November of 2016.  For more information about OpenText product support life cycles please visit: http://thefaxguysot.wpengine.com/rightfax-supported-versions/ or call 952-224-3340 Ext. 1

Q:  What is the purpose of the RightFax Worker Host service running as a service in EFM?
A: RightFax Worker Host service is an infrastructure service and future versions of RightFax will build upon its capabilities in the future.  For now it handles a few tasks relative to coversheet rendering.

Q: Are you planning on continuing to slipstream the FP in to the base install?  We would like both options.  We don’t like downloading a 2+GB patch if they don’t need to, but we do like installing a patched version on new installs.
A: We will continue to offer a slipstream install, but we won’t package that separately.  You will need to download the full ISO and pull just the client update from there.

Q: Will this be compatible with Exchange 2016?
A: Yes, 10.6 FP3 is compatible with Exchange 2016.

Q: Are there any new reporting options available?
A: 10.6 FP3 includes 4 new reports, Server Usage, User Inactivity, User Permissions, User Delegates.

Q: Is version 10.6 a web application only?
A: No, it is not a web only application. There are several windows apps in addition to the web client components.

Q: Is the upgrade done by professional services or can it be done internally?
A: Upgrades can be done internally, but engaging professional service is strongly recommended and available to customers who would like assistance. To talk to us about upgrading, call 952-224-3340 Ext. 1

Q: What is the long-term commitment to on premise RightFax?
A: RightFax is a strategic product for OpenText and we are fully committed to RightFax for the very long term.

Q: Will there by any improvement in impuser tools? Currently, a CSV file has to be perfect to upload and it doesn’t allow errors or any other tools to use user extension.
A: We are investigating updating and improving impuser in our April 2017 release of RightFax.

Q: When can customers see all fax channels (across RDTs) in one place within EFM?
A: We are investigating providing better server detail in a single place with our April 2017 release of RightFax.

Q: Will there be a way to have a failover Exchange Connector or will the connector be limited to only one Exchange server?
A: We would recommend the Exchange Web Services method of integration if you need failover on your Exchange environment.  There is no failover options for the foreign connector.

Q: Will we be able to add users as delegates from EFM?
A: Administrative control of delegation is a feature that we are investigating for our April 2017 release.

Q: In FaxUtil, has the network chattiness been streamlined?  (We need less chatty for remote users who experience significant delays when using FaxUtil)
A: We have significantly decreased the amount of time it takes for all FaxUtil users to perform activities.

Q: Will the Faxable Page count increase over 999?
A: We are currently investigating ways to increase the page count maximum for inclusion in our April 2017 release.

Q: With conversion being so CPU and RAM intensive, has OpenText updated the server requirements for 10.6 FP3 and beyond?
A: Our server requirements are investigated and if necessary updated with every release.  Our minimum and recommended server requirements are current as of 10.6 FP3, however server requirements are very dependent upon the amount of fax traffic you expect to push through your server.  OpenText professional service can help recommend an architecture depending on your needs.

Q: Will the retries functionality be available on in-house DocTransports?
A: We will be adding retry logic based on call status in our April 2017 release.

Q: Are phone books still only stored internally on 1 user and shared?
A: Phonebooks can be stored internally for all of your users, in addition you can connect to ODBC phonebooks.

Q: Can you explain the Office 365 integration, how that works and licensing requirements?
A: Office 365 integration can be accomplished without additional licensing via the SMTP Gateway, or you can purchase the Exchange add-in and utilize Exchange Web Services to integrate with Exchange online in Office 365.
Q: Can I still run reports in a batch mode scheduled outside of EFM?
A:
Yes, you can.

Q: When does support for 10.6 FP1 SR2 end?  It takes us some time to move to a new version.
A: RightFax 10.6 will not ever go out of support.  It will leave Current Maintenance and enter Sustaining Maintenance in November of 2018.  For more information visit: http://thefaxguysot.wpengine.com/rightfax-supported-versions/

Q: Are there any updates to dial plans so you can apply multiple rules?
A: You can have as many dialing rules as you would like with RightFax.
