“If I had a nickel for every time someone asked if ‘people still fax?’, I’d be rich!”. There are so many misconceptions about faxing, that it is no wonder that we often hear that question. Below are a few other misconceptions about faxing.
{1} It’s old school:
Believe it or not, faxing is more common than you would think. Companies across the globe rely on fax transmission as one of the most secure, cost effective and widely accepted methods for sharing business critical information.
{2} We don’t need it, we have email:
Email is great we will not refute that. I don’t think many of us would be able to live without email. Email certainly has its place, but it can’t legally handle all of our sensitive documents. HIPAA laws and Sarbanes Oxley pretty much frown upon email. Fax lines provide the security needed to keep private documents and information –private!
What else can fax do that email can’t? Well, what about confirmation of delivery? When you fax something, you know right away if it made it to the desired fax number. Pressing “send” on an email doesn’t necessarily mean your intended recipient will get your message.
{3} Fax machines take up valuable office space:
Yes, the good old office fax machine does hoard precious office space, but replacing your fax machine(s) with a fax server takes care of that issue. There is no need for a community fax machine when each user can fax directly from their computer desktop. Easy!
{4} Faxing is expensive:
Sure your old fax machine was an ink hog and went through reams of paper, but that doesn’t have to be the case with fax server technology. Faxes can come and go without the need to print (wasting ink & paper). How many fax machines does your company have to service and maintain? Dumping the stand-alone fax machines and opting for a more streamlined, paperless fax server environment can save your business thousands.
{5} Faxing is going away:
Faxing is not dead! Fax machines may become more of a rare office sighting, but the technology behind them is here to stay for the time being. According to Davidson Consulting, the fax industry has seen year-over-year growth and is on track for a continued steady growth pace.
Don’t be afraid of faxing. Don’t believe all of the anti-faxing hype. Do you need more evidence that faxing is a viable technology? Give The Fax Guys a call, we’d love to share even more reasons why faxing is right for you.
