At The Fax Guys, we have worked with RightFax for more than 18 years. We have seen the software grow and evolve to better serve large enterprises and small businesses with each new version released.
With the latest version (16.2) pretty close to being unveiled, we are taking a look back at how far the software has come.
RightFax Version 5.0
This was the first version of RightFax that we offered to our customers. Its release dates back to 1997 and the earlier days of internet expansion. One of the software’s major selling points was “least-cost routing,” where faxes are rerouted to reduce the costs of transmission. It also included modules for managing your fax server online (Web Client Module) and converting images to text (Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Module).
RightFax Versions 8.0, 8.5 and 8.7
We offered these earlier versions of RightFax to our customers Going all the way back to before 2004. Some of the features that they brought to the market included:
- Support for IBM Lotus Notes 6.0 and 6.5.
- “Do not dial” capabilities to prevent spam.
- Encrypted Certified and Secure Delivery with the SecureDocs module.
- Expanded E-document delivery and automation.
Support and maintenance for version 8.7 ended in September, 2008.
RightFax Versions 9.0, 9.3 and 9.4
These versions of RightFax significantly improved the security of RightFax while reducing the costs associated with fax solutions. It’s support for Fax over IP (FoIP) and virtualization allowed for greater stability as well as the consolidation of fax servers.
Some of the other features they included were a new reporting tool (Enterprise Fax Reporter), support for 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and more seamless integration with ERP applications and other 3rd-party software.
Development and support for these versions ended in May, 2014.
RightFax Versions 10.0, 10.5 and 10.6
The most recent versions of RightFax, these versions, and their feature packs, brought features like:
- Mobile functionality: users could now access the RightFax Web Client from their mobile phone or tablet’s browser to send, receive and manage faxes.
- Search functionality for FaxUtil.
- Greater analytics (detailed server info, user inactivity reporting, etc.).
- The creation of multiple group admins and new roles for users.
