Modern businesses are storing, maintaining, sending and receiving more data than ever, which is why disaster recovery and server redundancy are mission critical measures every organization needs to implement into their IT infrastructure. Fax servers are no different; every organization that deploys a solution like RightFax needs to ensure their servers are shielded from possible data loss. Even server downtime can lead to potential data loss — faxes containing critical data will not be received — and can affect the productivity and profitability of an organization.
The stakes are upped even more when an organization is bound by regulations like HIPAA and Sarbanes Oxley. Data loss can lead to hefty fines. In order to keep data secure and maintain compliance, every organization should invest in some type of redundancy and disaster recovery solution.
Redundancy and Disaster Recovery with RightFax Servers
RightFax makes redundancy and disaster recovery measures easy to deploy and manage. By setting up a server collective, consisting of two or more RightFax servers, organizations can create a common database that maintains the integrity of data stored within and transmitted by RightFax.
Server collectives ensure that loads are balanced across the collective. RightFax services are shared by multiple machines, balancing the workload of many RightFax clients. These redundant servers cover for one another should a single server experience an outage. All faxes are stored on a consolidated SQL server, which saves storage space, and are available to all clients in the network.
Making Life Easy for RightFax Admins
Administration of this setup is also simplified. Although there are multiple fax servers, they share all the data on a single database. This includes users, delegates, phonebook entries, distribution lists and document data such as fax status. Admins manage all their data from a centralized location that is accessible and has a shared configuration.
Scalability is also easily achievable. As an organization grows, IT teams can easily add more servers to the collective. RightFax software does not limit the number of servers that can share a common database.
The RightFax Shared Services Module
The RightFax Shared Services Module is used to implement a server collective. The module adds high availability through duplication of critical system functions and continues to run even if sites or servers go offline. This module increases the performance and capacity of servers by spreading the workload across all servers on the collective. It creates a scalable, redundant and high-availability fax solution for organizations.
Installation Options
RightFax Shared Services can be installed on Windows Server, can be software only (FoIP) and can run in VMware or Hyper-V. No physical fax boards are required, but they can be used if you have them installed.
