June 19, 2014 By Fax Girl Leave a Comment

OpenText™ RightFax FaxUtil client incompatibility with Adobe® Reader® 11.0.0.7

Systems Affected
RightFax FaxUtil client 10.6, 10.5, and 10.0.

Details
If Adobe® Reader® 11.0.0.7 is installed on the same client computer as RightFax FaxUtil, the following issues may occur.
Windows 8
The FaxUtil client may stop responding when a user attempts to view a fax that was sent with the Create PDF image option enabled.
Windows 7
The FaxUtil client may display a blank page when a user attempts to view a fax—that was sent with the Create PDF image option enabled—from the PDF tab in the fax viewer.

Impact
Windows 8
Users are unable to view outbound fax images through the FaxUtil client.
Windows 7
Users are unable to access the PDF tab from the FaxUtil client. However, it does not prevent the user from viewing the fax image.

Solution

OpenText has documented a workaround for this issue in Knowledge Base Article 50081429.

The tracking numbers for this issue are:
-RF-11640: Windows 8 and RightFax 10.6.
-RF-11644: Windows 7 and RightFax 10.6.
-RF-11642: Windows 7 and RightFax 10.5.
-RF-11641: Windows 7 and RightFax 10.0.
