Our RightFax support team maintains more than 800 fax servers nationwide, so they naturally see a lot of fax issues come through our support portal every day. Many of these are quick fixes, while a select few require a bit more thought. At the end of the day, the resolution is most important, but it’s fun and informative to take a look back at the process.
Here’s one issue that (temporarily) stumped The Fax Guys.
Windows Clustering Issue
Our support team had a customer with an odd setup that was using Windows Clustering Services for RightFax. The issue began when their fax server went completely down. It couldn’t send or receive faxes at all.
The Solution
As it turns out, the problem was the result of the unique setup they were using, and the cluster itself was in a corrupt state. Half of the services were running on one node and half were running on the other.
This setup was something you don’t normally see, but our support team was able to resolve the corrupted state the cluster was in and further prevent the problem from happening again. The resolution involved removing a drive that was no longer needed in the cluster (which was causing part of the corruption). They then went ahead and trained the customer on how to properly use the Cluster Manager with RightFax, equipping them with the knowledge to handle the situation should it arise again in the future.
