The RightFax Encryption Module is an optional module organizations can add onto their enterprise fax server. This module is compatible with RightFax versions 10.6 and above and is easily deployable with most fax server setups.
What is the RightFax Encryption Module?
The most basic function of the RightFax Encryption Module is to add a substantial layer of protection to inbound and outbound faxes on your enterprise server. The module encrypts fax images that are stored in the RightFax Image Directory and prevents any and all unauthorized access. Users who are not authorized will not be able to view encrypted images, and their attempts to view them are tracked and recorded for auditing purposes.
A more detailed description of the module can be found here.
When to Use the RightFax Encryption Module
Is this module necessary for your fax server? Not necessarily, but it’s highly recommended to install this module if you are an organization that is bound by regulations like HIPAA, SOX or other major industry regulations, or if you deal with any other type of sensitive client/patient information.
This encryption module is ideal for organizations that can say yes to one or more of the following questions:
- Do you frequently send or receive protected information (i.e. patient/healthcare information, financial information, etc.)?
- Do you need an added layer of protection for the fax images and/or content that you send, receive or store on your fax server?
- Do you have concerns that there may be an internal data breach at your organization?
- Are there specific users at your organization that you do not wish to gain access to certain fax content?
If your organization frequently grants fax server access to outside contractors, employees or other organizations for certain projects, the RightFax Encryption Module is a great way to secure and lock down certain information that temporary internal users are not meant to access. The module encrypts all data with TripleDES 192-bit security, an encryption key that is based on server guides. The only way to access encrypted images in the Image Directory Structure is through the RightFax API, and only authorized users are granted access.
